Sing and Sign is a fabulous way of helping you to communicate and understand your baby through the use of sign language. It is far more natural for a baby to understand gestures, than it is words, however this does not mean that we want you to replace the use of speech with signs but use them as an aid of understanding each other. We have found the best way of teaching is through music. It truly is a wonderful moment when you see your child sign for the first time.
What are the benefits of signing?
- Helping to understand your baby's needs, thoughts and ideas
- Reducing frustration (for baby and parent!)
- Enhancing early vocabulary and understanding
- Encouraging the development of speech
- Enriching your baby's relationships
- Building confidence and self-esteem
- Stimulating your baby's intellectual and emotional development
These are all great ways that you can really benefit from signing with your baby. Developed and recommended by the experts!
What class is suitable for your baby?
Stage 1 : for babies from 6 months-15 months
Stage 2 : for toddlers from 16months-24months
Stage 1 is all about learning the basic signs such as milk, drink, eat,
all gone/finished etc.
Stage 2 is about building on your child's vocabulary.
What can I expect from the classes?
Our classes hold a maximum of 12 mums. We like to keep them intimate as it benefits you getting to know the other mums but also allows the babies to recognise familiar faces, so they feel settled into their class.
We hold three terms a year. The next one that you can apply for now, is starting in September . As we teach in 11 week terms, you would have to enroll before end of August to get the best chance in a place, as places fill very quickly.
With in the classes we like to make them as interactive as possible. We use many props, the most favorite one is Jessie cat! You can see a picture of her at the bottom of this page! We also like to use instruments, props bags and pictures!
Check out our gallery page to see our babies signing!

What Sing and Sign Mummies
Have To Say About Hollie's Classes:
August 2010 Debbie says:
I've been taking Jaime to
class since May, although she's still quite young (8 months) she's
already starting to absorb a lot of the signing. In addition, it's a
lovely way for her to interact with other children and she loves the
songs and is totally focused on Hollie and her wonderfully bright and
happy teaching and singing! Extremely happy with this class and would
unreservedly recommend to anyone!
Deb
July 2010 Fiona says:
We've
been taking my daughter Amy along to Hollie's Saturday class since she
was six months old and we all love it, especially Amy. It was great to
find a class on a Saturday as most other baby activities seem to assume
that mums don't have to work. It is a really great activity for the
whole family to do together and as it is only 45 minutes it doesn't
take up too much time on a busy Saturday either. Hollie is a brilliant
teacher and makes the classes very enjoyable for mums dads and, of
course, the babies. If you can only choose one baby activity I would
certainly recommend Singing & Signing with Hollie.
March 2010 Gemma says:
What a fantastic class! My daughter Phoebe (almost 9 months) has just completed stage 1a of Hollie's Sidcup class and absolutley loved it - her little face lit up as soon as the welcome song played each week. She is clapping and waving and recognises signs like finshed/all gone.
The class is well organised, interactive and fun. Not only is it great for the children but it is nice for the Mummys and Daddys to learn a new skill.
Thanks Hollie!
March 2010 Kate says:
My son Bobby and I have been going to Hollie's classes since they started, although he was a little slow on picking up the signs he is definately starting to catch on now.
He absolutely loves Hollie and the classes have really brought him out of himself; he laughs and chats all the way through them.
We are definately going to continue with the classes and would recommend them to any other mothers looking for a structured but fun and educational way of learning to communicate better with their child.

March 2010 sabina says:
My daughter Olivia (now 9 months) and I have been going to Hollie's classes since they started, we have so much fun and the class is very relaxed and informal. Hollie is great with the kids and mums and is also very patient!
Hollie follows proper BSL signing in the class, and its really great to see some of the other little ones in the class using them. I find myself wandering round the house time singing songs from the class. Olivia definitely understands most of the signs now, especially things like milk, eat and tired!
We are nearly at the end of the first term, and I am looking at changing my work days just so we can keep going next term!

February 2010 Kirsty says:
I've been taking my daughter to Hollie's classes for a few months now and she thoroughly enjoys them. We did try another class prior to the Sing & Sign but found that there wasnt really any structure to the class/course& the lady who ran it didnt really manage to connect with the babies. These classes however are fantastic, Hollie (the teacher) is great with all of the babies (& mum's too!) and really makes the classes fun & relevant.

March 2010 Cat says:
Hi Everyone,
Just want to tell all you mummies how much I've enjoyed my first term doing Sing&Sign with Hollie White.
Hollie is brilliant, she's great with the kids and made us mummies (and daddies) feel very comfortable too. My 8 month old son loves our class and gets so involved, he is completely entertained/absorbed for the whole 45 minute class which is amazing!
Samuel and I are about to start our second term, if anyone is considering joining this term I'd thoroughly recommend it :)
Thank you Hollie!
Cat & Samuel x x x
We hope to see you in class very soon!
Our favorite class pet is Jessie Cat, She loves popping out to say hello to all of the children!
