WELCOME TO SING AND SIGN IN ORKNEY!
Hello, I am Susan and I have had great fun teaching Sing and Sign classes in Orkney since 2007!
We began signing with our youngest daughter Eleanor when she was 9 months old. Two months later I was beginning to wonder if we were getting anywhere other than attracting some curious looks in the supermarket !
The breakthrough came one day when I was changing her. Our Dalmatian bounded into the room – Eleanor excitedly signed ‘dog’ ! I couldn’t believe my eyes, it was an amazing and very emotional moment to see her ‘telling’ me something and she was delighted to have made herself understood! Before long she was producing many more signs. It gave us a fascinating insight into her world - what she was noticing, what she was thinking about, and what was interesting her.

Now aged 5 she’s not only a real little chatterbox , but a great example of how signing with your baby encourages and enriches their vocabulary.She enjoys making the odd'guest' appearance at my class, where she still enjoys joining in the songs with great gusto whilst signing along like a mini teacher!
Classes are small ( maximum 11 parents) and very informal.
The babies don't have to sit still(!) they enjoy the songs, music and each other whilst their parents learn the signs.
We Sing and Sign for around 40 minutes then there is an opportunity for play, whilst parents enjoy a drink and a blether!
Baby signing is truly amazing and I hope you and your baby will come along and share the magic!
To ensure an intimate atmosphere numbers are restricted to 11 Parents per class.

AS I AM RETURNING FULL-TIME TO MY OTHER JOB I WILL ONLY BE RUNNING CLASSES ON A SATURDAY MORNING FROM AUGUST 2010. DEMAND IS HIGH SO EARLY BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL.
STAGE 2 SATURDAY MORNING 10 -11 AM
STAGE 1 SATURDAY MORNING 11AM - 12 MIDDAY
BOTH CLASSES HELD AT THE KIRKWALL LIBRARY
FEES ARE £40 FOR THE 10 WEEK TERM,TWINS AND SIBLINGS COME ALONG FREE OF CHARGE
