Sing and Sign classes are in Harrogate, Ripon, Northallerton, Thirsk and Knaresborough.
There will be a free Sing & Sign demonstration at Ripon Community House Fun Day on Saturday July 17th at 11am
We held two Chatterbox Challenges one on Monday March 29th in Harrogate at the Harrogate and Knaresborough Toy Library and one on Tuesday March 30th in Ripon at Greystone School. Together we raised £120 for the I CAN charity! I know that this will make a difference to the children who really need help with their speech and language, so thank you very much to the Harrogate and Knaresborough Toy Library and to Greystone School and of course to all the children, parents and carers who joined in for the challenge !
My name is Jenny, I trained as a speech therapist so have always had an interest in communication and language development so when I discovered Sing & Sign with my first son I couln't wait to see what would happen! We started classes when he was 8 months old and he first signed back to me at 9 months, it was amazing to see an insight into his young mind. He loves animals and by 15 months knew and regularly used signs for giraffe, rhino, hippo and pig and it was great to share in this interest with him. When we had another son I obviously started classes with him. He loved the fun songs and got really excited about seeing his 'friend' Jessie cat in the class every week!
To ensure maximum benefit for you and your baby we have a Stage 1 and a Stage 2 class. Socially this also benefits mothers and babies because you and your baby will meet other babies of the same age range.
Stage 1 : For babies from 6 months. Babies become gestural around the age of 7-9 months. That is when they wave bye-bye and clap their hands.
Stage 2 : For babies from about 15 months. Your baby can join Stage 2, if your baby is 14 months or older or has two terms of Stage 1. We learn alot of new things in Stage 2, including opposites, colours and the alphabet.

This year again we are finalists and the only baby signing group in the winning categories! This means that the parents and carers who come to our classes enjoy them very much!
